    JOB SUMMARY: Performs variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical, cement masonry, dry wall or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing or remodeling the distribution center.  Plans, organizes and structures work assignments for the general maintenance and janitorial crew.  


    1.       Performs a variety of skilled duties to maintain distribution center buildings and grounds and to meet GSF and DQMP standards for appearance, cleanliness, and safety.


    2.       Plans, organizes and structures work assignments for the general maintenance and janitorial crew.  


    3.       Maintain inventory of facility maintenance supplies, requesting supplies as needed.


    4.       Performs repairs to maintain working condition of the facility, equipment, and grounds.


    5.       Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.


    Education/Certification and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalency plus previous employment experience in the building trades, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.  Must have a valid State Driver License.  Any work requiring certification (e.g. welding) must be supported by current certification.

    3. Rough and finished carpentry techniques (J)
    4. Knowledge of carpentry supplies and equipment and their use (J)

    6. Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures (J)
    7. Sanitation and janitorial concepts and techniques (B)

    Skill and ability to:

    1. Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment common to the building trades
    2. Reach with hands and arms
    3. Use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls
    4. Climb, crawl, squat, kneel, balance, or twist
    5. Lift, push, pull or carry objects over 25 pounds
    6. Develop cost estimates for supplies and equipment.
    7. Coordinate construction projects, remodels, and other special projects
    8. Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment.
    9. Follow verbal and written instructions
    10. Identify problems or irregularities for early resolution
    11. Communicate, read and write using the English language
    12. Ability to work with minimal supervision
    13. Ability to pass forklift certification process
    14. Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.


    This position has lead responsibilities over the General Maintenance and Janitorial positions in the Maintenance Department.  These responsibilities include but are not limited to training, coaching, scheduling daily workload, and providing recommendations to management regarding recruitment, and performance management of direct reports.
