JOB SUMMARY                The Network/Telecom Engineer - is responsible for the operational stability, reliability, and performance of the company’s network and telecom infrastructure including, but not limited to Cisco LAN/WAN/WLAN, VOIP/UC systems, voice and data network lines, license and maintenance contracts, and audio/web/video conferencing.





  1. Network and Telecom Administration and Support
  • Provides operational support through the design, implementation, administration, support, and maintenance of the network and telecom infrastructure
  • Collaborates with Infrastructure Architects to design and implement network and telecom solutions according to best practices
  • Develops documentation and instructions on current network and telecom environment (e.g. configuration, layout, etc.), as well as, future enhancements; documentation responsibilities include compiling operations and maintenance reports as required, to include monthly operations and key metrics reports
  • Supports the implementation of necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction
  • Conducts capacity monitoring of network and telecom resources (e.g. WAN bandwidth, QoS congestion, SIP trunks, etc.) and takes proactive action to mitigate risks
  • Provides Level 2/3 escalation support for problems, incidents, and service requests for Level 1 support technicians
  • Request and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of network and telecom equipment via quote procedure
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, support, and/or on-call availability as needed
  • Accountable for hardware and software management, upgrades and warranties in area of specialty


  1. Technology Project Support
  • Evaluate current systems to identify areas for improvement or new direction and provide as input into future systems strategies.
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide input into future systems strategies.
  • Work closely with IT staff to clearly define issues and/or requirements that result in modifications to any of the systems, hardware or OS in area of specialty.
  • Provide expert advice, training, project management and technical support for various projects.            


  1. Additional Responsibilities
  • Accountable for properly following all IT standards, processes and methodologies as applicable including but not limited to Quality Assurance (QA), Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities may be assigned based on business and organization needs.



  • Minimal travel requirements (<10%)





  • Four-year college required or applicable trade school or commensurate work experience.
  • CCNP, CCDP, or other Cisco technical certifications



  • 3+ years of network support and administration in a complex technical environment.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the following skill sets:
  • Cisco Routing and Switching concepts, installation, configuration, and administration
  • Cisco Unified Communications Suite – Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) / Unity Connections, and UCCX administration
  • LAN/WAN network troubleshooting and monitoring
  • Cisco wireless network installation, configuration, administration, and support
  • Installation, configuration, administration, and support of VPN and other WAN technology (e.g. MPLS, T1, Fiber, SONET, DSL, Frame Relay, etc.)
  • Installation, configuration, administration, and support of PSTN, PRI, SIP, POTS/Analog, VoIP, SRST, etc.
