Overview

JOB SUMMARY:  60% provide support on computer hardware, to users in terms of applications, new purchases, and system integrity to maximize G.S.F productivity and use of computer resources. 40% help with software, work with I.T to analyze where data resides, oversee basic reports, work closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Resolves computer hardware, software, and data questions and problems, responding on a daily basis to ensure user needs are met. (40%)
  1. Analyzes user needs and problems hardware, software, and data questions and implements solutions on a timely basis to maximize employee productivity. (15%)
  1. Upgrades and installs new hardware, cabling and terminals to meet user needs. (5%)
  1. Provides individual/departmental training as needed. (5%)
  1. Trains users formally and informally on request or as required to ensure effective systems. (5%)
  1. Researches and maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding software to enhance gsf processes and profitability. (5%)
  1. Performs special projects related to the following areas: 1) IS Specialized Training and Assessment, 2) Research and Development of Technology Advancement, and 3) Specialized Departmental projects. (25%)

Qualifications

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems from an accredited college or university.  Certification as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

 

Experience:

2 - 4 years of relevant work experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of (B/basic; J/journey; E/expert):

  • AS400 computing environment (data query and systems programming) (E)
  • Windows95/NT workstation environment (J)
  • PC hardware and software installation concepts and techniques (J)
  • Prism (J)
  • Database administration concepts and techniques (J)
  • Relevant division concepts, procedures and regulations (J)
  • Act in accordance with GSF’s Values and Creed

Skills and ability to:

  • Interpret computer hardware and software anomalies and identify appropriate solutions
  • Interact effectively with employees at all organizational levels
