Overview

JOB SUMMARY:  Participates in the monitoring of revenues and expenses to ensure maximum profitability is achieved. Prepares financial and statistical reports for use internally and by other departments.  Performs general accounting functions.  Ensures accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists in period-end closings, including preparation and data entry of journal entries and usage reports. (30%)
  1. Monitors accounts, maintains logs and records, and prepares reports. (25%)
  1. Monitors weekly margin and makes adjustments when required. (10%)
  1. Provides assistance in all areas of general accounting.  (10%)
  1. Communicates with customers regarding account status and follows up on inquiries to maintain strong customer relations. (10%).
  1. Assists with physical inventory counts. (5%)
  1. Participates in developing the Divisional Operating Plan. (5%)
  1. Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary. (5%)

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

May coordinate the workload for clerical and support staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Education and experience equivalent to:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited vocational, technical, or junior college.

 

Experience:

3 to 6 years of related work experience in general accounting functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Knowledge of (B/basic; J/journey; E/expert):

  • Generally accepted accounting principles (J)
  • One or more accounting functions (e.g., accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll processing, etc.) (J)
  • Budgeting process (J)
  • PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications (J)
  • Relevant division concepts, procedures, and regulations (J)
  • Use of basic office equipment and machinery (PCs, copiers, fax machines, modems, etc.) (J)
  • Project/assignment management techniques and procedures (B)
  • Division Operations (B)
  • 10-Key machine by touch (B)
  • Company computer systems (payroll, inventory, etc.)
